If you are part of the gambling industry, then you know that there have been big crackdowns over the last few years. In some countrie throughout the world the game has been banned.
But a new law in Russia has put fear into gambling industries all around the world. A law in Russia which was passed 3 years ago has now come into affect making all the casinos close their doors and relocate their business. What Russia has done is created some special zones in distant regions of the country where people can go to gamble.
It means that people are going to have to travel so far if they want to play a game of poker in a Russian casino. In other ways back here in Britain it is like closing all of the casino and betting shops and just making one special zone far out in the countryside somewhere.
Personally I think all of this information is very bad news, they are simply pushing gambling down to the underground, and we all know what happens when things become illegal, people just want to do it more and more its just human nature. Besides that if this roles out throughout the world then it will be impossible to get through the economic crisis.
In Russia alone there are more then half a million people now jobless, which is terrible news. So where do they now expect these people to go and find new work? And is the Russian sector really strong enough to risk making people jobless, especially now during this economic downturn.
